Clobetasone

Mechanism :

It is a glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory properties. It is used as a topical agent for reducing local inflammation of skin in diseases like eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, contact and seborrheic dermatitis.


Indication :

  • Relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.

Contraindications :

Underlying infection, Hypersensitivity, Ophthalmic use.


Dosing :

Available as 0.05%/15 gm cream.
Apply thin layer to affected areas q12hr (not to exceed 50 g/week).

Adverse Effect :

Systemic adrenal suppression (subcapsular cataract, osteoporosis, glaucoma, peptic ulcers and adrenal suppression), skin atrophy.


Interaction :

No significant interactions known or found for this drug.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
