Pheniramine Maleate

Mechanism :

It is an antihistaminic agent with moderate sedative properties. It also has antimuscarinic action. It is used in allergic conditions such as urticaria, angioedema, rhinitis and conjunctivitis.


Indication :

  • Allergy
  • Angioedema
  • Asthma
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Dermatitis
  • Eczema
  • Hay fever
  • Perennial rhinitis
  • Rhinitis
  • Urticaria
  • Vasomotor rhinitis
  • Vertigo

Contraindications :

Do not use if sensitive to any ingredient in this product.


Dosing :

0.3 mg/kg/dose 6-8 hourly PO/IV.

Adverse Effect :

GI disturbances, headache, sedation, dizziness.


Interaction :

Phenelzine: MOAI Inhibitor like phenelzine, tranylcypromine intensifies the anticholinergic effect of pheniramine and hence should not be use with pheniramine.



Hepatic Dose :

No dosage adjustments are recommended.
