Mechanism :

Tolperisone (HCl) is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. Tolperisone (HCl) is used in the symptomatic treatment of spasticity and muscle spasm.


Indication :

• Acute or chronic treatment of pathologically elevated skeletal muscle tone in organic neurological disorders.

• Treatment of muscular hypertonicity and muscle spasms associated with locomotor diseases (e.g. spondylosis, spondylarthrosis, cervical and lumbar syndromes, arthrosis of large joints).

• Rehabilitation after orthopaedic and trauma surgery.

• Treatment of obliterative vascular diseases as well as syndromes due to impaired vascular innervation (e.g. acrocyanosis, dysbasia angioneurotic intermittent).


Contraindications :

Tolperisone (HCl) is contraindicated in conditions like Myasthenia gravis.


Dosing :

<6 years: 5 mg/kg daily orally divided in three doses.

6-14 years: 2-4 mg/kg daily orally, divided in three doses.

Adults: 150-450 mg orally daily divided in 3 doses.


Adverse Effect :

Muscle weakness, somnolence, hypersensitivity, urticaria, pruritus, dyspnoea, angioedema, erythema, rash and anaphylactic reaction/anaphylactic shock, hyperhidrosis.


Interaction :

No interactions.
